European Evening at ZEW
First-Hand Information on Economic PolicyAfter the European elections and before the constitution of the new Commission, the EU is in the process of a political reorientation. In the context of a “European Evening” with Guido Wolf, Minister of Justice and European Affairs of Baden-Württemberg, ZEW aims to spark a discussion on the future of the European Union.
This evening event will focus on the future development of the EU, which is currently facing major challenges. The divisions between East and West, North and South, liberal and illiberal are growing. Where is the EU heading after Brexit and the euro crisis – towards deeper integration or greater division? Is there a way to maintain the pro-European dynamics from the election campaign for the coming years? Can we make the eurozone fit for the future? And is it even possible to reach the necessary consensus among the Member States?
After a kick-off speech by Professor Friedrich Heinemann, head of the ZEW Research Department “Corporate Taxation and Public Finance”, Minister Guido Wolf will outline the European concept of the state of Baden-Württemberg in a keynote speech. Afterwards, there will be a panel discussion moderated by Heike Göbel (FAZ), which will focus on the future course of the European Union.
We would like to thank the ZEW Sponsors’ Association for Science and Practice for supporting the lecture series “First-Hand Information on Economic Policy”.
