The aim of the project was to record the innovation activities of companies in the state of Berlin for the period 2021–2023, as well as to collect information on planned innovation activities for 2024 and 2025. For this purpose, an innovation survey for the state of Berlin was conducted as part of the nationwide Innovation Survey 2024. The Berlin Innovation Survey 2024 was designed as an "additional survey", meaning that the fundamental methodological elements (sampling frame, questionnaire, evaluation procedures) remained unchanged compared to the German Innovation Survey. The results were extrapolated for companies in Berlin with five or more employees in the manufacturing sector and in knowledge-intensive services, and were compared with the results for companies in other metropolitan regions in Germany.
