- Economic Risks and the Design of Social Insurance Schemes
- Optimal Social Insurance Systems
The research area “Structural Change and Social Insurance” examines how structural change, such as demographic change but also the advancing technological developments, affects labour markets and social insurance systems. Our goal is to develop approaches to economically optimised designs for social insurance systems that meet the requirements and challenges of structural change. We focus, among other things, on the health-related and economic effects of general practitioner insurance models, which provide reduced cover compared to the majority of health insurance schemes. In cooperation with scientists at the University of California, Los Angeles, the research area also investigates the effects of monetary incentives in nursing homes and the financing of the care sector. Our research also extends to the interaction between the between private and public markets for disability insurance schemes.
