Kopernikus-Project „System Integration“: ENavi

With the Energy Transition, Germany has set itself the goal of transforming the current energy system into a largely CO2-free system based on renewable energy sources. Developing an economically feasible, environmentally friendly, reliable, and socially acceptable energy system requires an integrated approach at the system level. ENavi percieves the energy transition as a societal transformation process and combines scientific analysis with political-societal demands. The project shall contribute to bringing forward the energy transition in a sustainable way and achieving the largest possible acceptance of the transformation. The knowledge gained about sustainable transformation paths are of substantial strategic interest for the evaluation of the market potential of different technologies. The integrated approach applied in ENavi assesses the current state and prospective outlook along the important dimensions of network expansion, storage capacities, demand side management, and (centralized and decentralized) generation as well as taking the interaction effects between these different dimensions into account.
