Merger Activities in European Electricity Markets and their Impact on Competition
Period:
02.01. – 30.09.2014
In this project, merger activities and their interaction with the residual supply index or concentration rates are analyzed. Subject of study are the big players in the European electricity markets and the impact of their merger decisions during the last ten years. Important factors for this analysis are transmission capacities and the corresponding import and export activities, as well as the infeed of fluctuating renewables. We focus on the Central West Europe (CWE) market coupling region, consisting of Belgium, Netherlands, France and Germany.
