ZEW Mourns the Passing of Professor Arnold Picot
In MemoriamZEW mourns the passing of Professor Arnold Picot. Picot was a long-serving member of the ZEW Scientific Advisory Council, where his valuable contributions helped to enrich the institute’s research and to steer ZEW’s dynamic development over the years. The experienced business economist was particularly concerned with contributing to ZEW’s strategic approach to the research field of Digital Economy.
As part of his role as a member of the Scientific Advisory Council from 28 February 2000 until 31 December 2016, Picot participated in two important evaluations of the institute carried out by the Leibniz Association and also served as vice-chair of the committee from 29 May 2002 until his retirement. The excellent rating ZEW received for both these evaluations as well as the institute’s international renown can be attributed in part to his hard work and commitment. “We will always remember Arnold Picot as an extremely dedicated researcher, a remarkable personality and a valuable source of exciting new ideas,” says Thomas Kohl, ZEW Director of Business and Administration, who had worked alongside Picot from the very beginning of his time on the institute’s Scientific Advisory Council.
Picot was head of the Institute for Information, Organization and Management at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU). Following his retirement and the institute closing its doors on 1 April 2013, he was named head of the LMU’s Research Center for Information, Organization and Management. Picot remained closely involved with ZEW following his retirement.
