Noncognitive Skills: Acquisition and Economic Consequences (May 15-17 2008)

The first conference of the research network "Non-Cognitive Skills: Acquisition and Economic Consequences" funded by the Leibniz Association takes place at the ZEW on 15 - 17 May 2008. The conference brings together national and international experts from different areas. In his opening speech, the Nobel Price winner in Economics James J. Heckman (University of Chicago) will talk about the significance of non-cognitive skills for human capital formation. At the end, the motivation and social psychologist Peter M. Gollwitzer (University of Constance and University of New York), will give a lecture on the limits of intentionality. In further presentations, the latest results of the partners in the research network will be put up for discussion. The conference is open for all researchers interested.
