STARK-MIT-DIBI: Empowerment of girls with a migrant background through digital education

Digital education is becoming increasingly important for individual educational biographies and societal participation in the ever-evolving technological world. This is evidenced, among others, by reports from the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs and the OECD. However, studies such as the International Computer and Information Literacy Studies (ICILS) show that access to digital resources and the mastery of relevant skills are not equally guaranteed for all students but are influenced by social and affective-motivational factors. Girls with a migrant background are particularly disadvantaged.

This project aims to pilot how digital educational opportunities can improve educational prospects for this specific target group. It seeks to provide access to digital learning resources and strengthen self-efficacy in digital competencies, ultimately increasing opportunities for future educational pathways.

A key practice partner is an extracurricular education provider that manages one of the globally innovative "TUMO" digital learning centers. Core principles include: self-directed learning with adaptive learning software, learning by example, and empowerment. The project will test the conditions for success, analyze the effectiveness of the measures, and explore the underlying mechanisms. Additionally, continuous exchange formats will establish sustainable cooperation and networking structures. The participatory approach ensures both practical relevance and sustainability.
