Economics of Innovation and Industrial Dynamics
Professor Maikel Pellens obtained his PhD in applied economics in 2014 at KU Leuven, Belgium, and was a senior researcher at ZEW’s “Economics of Innovation and Industrial Dynamics” Department from 2014 to 2019. From 2019 to 2021, he was a visiting professor of entrepreneurship at Ghent University, Belgium. Since October 2021, Maikel Pellens is a senior researcher at the Expertise Centre for Research and Development Monitoring (ECOOM) at KU Leuven as well as a research associate at ZEW. His research interests lie in the economics of innovation and science, using microeconometric methods to answer policy-relevant questions. His research topics concern the evaluation of innovation and science policy, industry-science knowledge transfer, and knowledge-based entrepreneurship.
