The Management of Water as Resource
The Management of Water as Resource
Ever larger amounts to be provided as well as lower qualities available are two key aspects of the concern about water that each country´s political agenda world-wide will have to address. Basic tenets of sustainable use were made the project´s central problem area. This, in the first place, involved analysing the characteristics of the good and commodity ´water´ with respect to its status as both renewable, but also depletable resource and the ultimate connection to the issue of quantitative and qualitative shortage of drinking water. A particularly sensitive topic that prompts close attention to geographic detail arises among neighbouring countries from the property of water as a cross-border resource. Another debate is vested in the organisation principle of water supply and recovery, i.e., the potential for privatisation, respectively institutional liberalisation. Here, the comparison with other as of recent highly regulated sectors, electricity and telecommunication, was drawn up in order to seek out parallels and differences.
