ZEW President Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Franz on the Evaluation Report of the German Council of Science and Humanities
Dates and NewsAt today's meeting in Würzburg, the German Council of Science and Humanities recommended the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) to be included on the "Blue List". On this occasion, ZEW President Dr. Wolfgang Franz gave the following statement at a press conference in Mannheim:
"With the assessment decision of the German Council of Science and Humanities coming into effect and ZEW being recommended to be included on the “Blue List”, the research institute was given a first-grade scientific accreditation. ZEW considers the Council’s vote as a high accolade for its scientific work and takes it as an encouragement to continue further on the same path. The credit for ZEW’s success belongs to all the members of every single department of our institute, and not least to former colleagues, in particular to the scientific founding director Dr. Dr. h.c. Heinz König. On behalf of ZEW I would like to address my sincere thanks to the State Government of Baden-Württemberg without whose diverse range of support the institute’s successful development would not have been possible. We hope to have proven that the federal state’s investments in ZEW have "paid off". We also owe particular thanks to the members of the Supervisory Board, the Scientific Advisory Board and the Sponsor’s Association for the excellent cooperation and help during the early years of formation. In the future, too, we will continue to make every effort to offer well-founded economic policy advice of the highest scientific level. On this account, we hope to continue to receive the support we have received so far and to be further conceded flexibility in our personnel policy and budgeting. This kind of flexibility has proven to be highly effective so far and is essential for ZEW's successful work."
