Economic Prospects and Policy in Europe

On June 11, 1999, the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim will host a one-day economic forum on the topic "Economic Prospects and Policy in Europe".

Keynote speakers at this event are Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Otmar Issing, member of the Executive Board of the ECB, and Karel Van Miert, EU Commissioner for Competition. Ottmar Issing holds a speech on the topic "The euro – a new, stable, international currency" and Karel Van Miert gives a presentation on "Future prospects for European competition policy". Their speeches are followed by a panel discussion about "economic prospects for the European internal market" as well as three presentations on fiscal harmonisation in Europe, on the choice of foreign procurement markets for businesses and the ZEW Financial Market Survey as a sentiment indicator for international financial markets.
