Expert Debate at ZEW: How to Solve the Venture Capital Market Crisis
ResearchDate Announced
The current crisis in the European and American venture capital markets has caused a visible consolidation process in these sectors. Particularly in Germany, where many venture capital companies were founded just a few years ago, and have little experience of dealing with such a crisis, the expected market adjustment poses a major challenge.
The expert debate, which will take place at the Mannheim Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) on Thursday, 3 October 2002 at 4:00 pm (Central European Time), will cover topics such as the beginning of the consolidation process in the venture capital industry and possible survival strategies for companies. The motto for the event is, "The Venture Capital Market - Two Years after the Gold Rush". Participants in the expert panel include renowned representatives from venture capital companies, as well as representatives from the field of science.
Participation is free for both companies involved in the market, as well as for individuals. If you wish to attend the event please let us know by 20 September 2002 (Email:firm-demography@zew.de or fax: +49(0)621/1235-170). The registration must include the following information: Institute/company, address and number of participants.
The discussion panel is part of a two-day scientific workshop dealing with causes and impacts of business start-ups, business growth and business close-downs (http://www.zew.de/firm-demography). Numerous European and American researches who have carried out work in this subject area are expected to attend the event at ZEW. The workshop is being held in collaboration between ZEW and the ODEON Centre for Entrepreneurship of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. It has received financial backing from the Deutsche Ausgleichsbank (DtA, today: KfW Bankengruppe (banking group)).
