ZEW Economist Madeline Werthschulte Honoured for Outstanding Dissertation

ZEW economist Dr. Madeline Werthschulte received an award for her outstanding dissertation in environmental and resource economics. Every year, the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) honours the three best doctoral theses in this field to promote academic innovation. The young researcher has been working at ZEW Mannheim since 2020. Using behavioural economics approaches, she makes an important contribution in the areas of energy and mobility.

In ZEW’s Research Department “Environmental and Climate Economics”, Madeline Werthschulte is currently working on questions related to energy efficiency in low-income households as well as on behavioural economic mechanisms of policy instruments, such as energy efficiency subsidies. Methodologically, her scientific work focuses on field experiments, e.g. in the form of population surveys or in cooperation with companies.
