Eleventh MaCCI Law & Economics Conference on '20 Years of Regulation 1/2003: Competition Law Procedure in Need of an Upgrade?'
10-11 November 2022
The Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation (MaCCI) is a research association of ZEW and the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Mannheim. MaCCI strengthens the exchange between researchers of law and economics and, thus, gives impetus in terms of competition policy, regulation, and innovation. It is our ambition to stimulate and disseminate research in the field of innovation policy, competition, market design, and regulation.
Keynote speeches will be held by Mike Walker (Chief Economic Advisor, CMA), Pablo Ibañez Colomo (LSE), Wouter Wils (European Commission & King’s College London), and Johannes Christoph Laitenberger (General Court).
The conference will be organized in four sessions (see the programme) which will focus on sector inquiries and market investigations (Session 1) – a topic that the German legislator has recently picked up as part of the next reform of the GWB; possibilities to make competition law enforcement more efficient and effective (including interim measures, remedies and commitment decisions) (Session 2); reconciling leniency and cartel damage actions (Session 3); and the future of the European Competition Network (Session 4).
