The Future of the EU Budget

ZEW Mannheim is pleased to announce the call for papers for the 2025 edition of the ZEW Annual Public Finance Conference. The conference will take place on 22 and 23 May in Mannheim, Germany.

The annual conference aims to cover all fields of public economics. This year’s keynote lectures and invited sessions will address the future direction of the EU budget. Both empirical and theoretical papers are welcome, including completed papers and papers in progress. Submissions related to the focus topic will have a higher chance of acceptance.

The best paper written by authors below the age of 35 will be awarded the Heinz König Young Scholar Award in a ceremony during the conference. The award is named after ZEW’s late founding director and is sponsored by Professor Wolfgang Franz. The prize includes an endowment of €5,000 as well as an optional research visit at ZEW.
