Inequality and Public Policy

Holger Stichnoth joined ZEW in 2009, where he is Head of the Research Group “Inequality and Public Policy”. He is also Professeur conventionné at the University of Strasbourg and Research Fellow at the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA), Bonn. He studied economics at the Universities of Konstanz and Edinburgh and at Humboldt University Berlin and received his PhD from the Paris School of Economics in 2010.

His research interests are family economics, the microsimulation of taxes and transfers, and the measurement of inequality in the cross-section and over the lifecycle. He has coordinated numerous consulting projects for federal ministries and other institutions. He served on the expert commission for the Tenth Family Report and the scientific advisory board for evaluating the Digital Social Security Statement at the German Pension Insurance. Currently, he is a member of the expert panel for the “Effective Investments in Education” program at the Bertelsmann Foundation.
