ConferenceCompetition and the Regulation of New Business Models in Finance
The Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation (MaCCI) is a research association of ZEW and the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Mannheim. MaCCI strengthens the exchange between researchers of law and economics and, thus, gives impetus in terms of competition policy, regulation, and innovation. t is our ambition to stimulate and disseminate research in the field of innovation policy, competition, market design, and regulation.
The MaCCI Law and Economics Conference was organized for the tenth time since the inaugural edition in 2011. The conference provided an international platform for exchange and discussion between academic researchers and practitioners in public authorities, legal counsel, and economic consultancies.
Due to the Covid-19 situation and the resulting measures the MaCCI Annual Conference 2021 had a hybrid format and included both plenary sessions and parallel sessions. While the plenary sessions consisted of a policy-oriented panel discussion and two keynote speeches, the parallel sessions provided an excellent opportunity to learn more about ongoing research in all areas of competition law and economics. The parallel sessions also included papers on business strategies related to competition, the intersection of competition and innovation, and regulated industries.
