New Chairman of ZEW Sponsors’ Association for Science and Practice Appointed

Dr. Manfred Fuchs hands over chairmanship to Dr. Dr. Peter Bettermann

At the general assembly of the Sponsors’ Association for Science and Practice of the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW), the chairman Dr. Manfred Fuchs, Deputy Chair of the Supervisory Board at Fuchs Petrolub AG, his deputy Dr. Jürgen M. Schneider, member of the Management Board of Bilfinger + Berger Bauaktiengesellschaft, and the association's treasurer, Director Rolf Kentner, Baden-Württembergische Bank AG, resigned from their offices in accordance with the association's statute after twelve years of work .

ZEW President Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Wolfgang Franz thanked Dr. Fuchs, Dr. Schneider and Director Kentner for their strong commitment to the foundation and development of the sponsors' association since 1993. "Their outstanding dedication largely contributed to the growth of the sponsor's association to its impressive size of 103 members. These members' support and practical ideas greatly enrich ZEW's work.

Following the resignation of Dr. Fuchs, Dr. Schneider, and Director Kentner, the board of the sponsors' association is composed as follows: Dr. Dr. Peter Bretterman, Spokesman of the Executive Board of Freudenberg & Co. KG, assumes the chair position. He is supported by his deputy Dr. Kurt W.Bock, Chief Financial Officer of BASF AG, and the new treasurer Dr. Alexander Selent, Deputy Chair of the Management Board at Fuchs Petrolub AG. Further board members of the sponsors' association are Dr. Andreas Dulger, Chairman of the Executive Board of ProMinent Dosiertechnik GmbH, and Dr. Uwe Schroeder-Wildberg, Executive Chairman of MLP AG.

In 1993, business representatives joined together to form the Sponsors' Association for Science and Practice at the Centre for European Economic Research to support the work at ZEW. Today, the association consists of 103 members as well as of renowned regional and national companies.
