Financing one-off therapies

Financing one-off therapies

In this project, a report on the topic of “Financing one-off therapies” is being prepared. The aim of the report is to evaluate various financing concepts for one-off therapies from an economic perspective. To this end, existing contract models for the financing of one-off therapies are presented and examined for economic viability. For the evaluation, we consider in particular the risk sharing between pharmaceutical companies and health insurance companies as well as the financial incentives for health insurance companies. In addition to the installment payment model and the reimbursement model, the prospective cohort model of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds (GKV SV) is examined. This is contrasted with the annual, adaptive, performance-based reimbursement model presented by CSL Behring.
