Impacts of Natural Disasters on International Trade Flows and Global Value Chains

Impacts of Natural Disasters on International Trade Flows and Global Value Chains

Period: 01.07.2013 – 30.11.2014

The aim of the „DISIMP“- project was to analyze the relationship between natural hazards in foreign countries and international trade flows. In particular, the effect of natural hazards on sectoral trade flows and the transfer of shocks on downstream sectors were examined. The results of the econometric analyses were used to calibrate a computable general equilibrium model (CGE-Model) and illustrate the effects of natural hazards on global supply chains.
