Knowledge and Technology Transfer in the Federal State of Saxony

Knowledge and Technology Transfer in the Federal State of Saxony

The aim of the project is to systemically analyse the knowledge and technology transfer between firms and public science in the Federal State of Saxony in order to evaluate the performance of the transfer system, identify unused exploitation potential and identify the need for action to improve the transfer. For this purpose, the relevant actors in the transfer system are first identified based on an impact model. Based on available information and our own surveys of firms, science institutions and intermediaries, the transfer process, including the exchange channels used, is analysed and the transfer potential is determined. Another part of the project examines the contribution of Saxon technology funding to the transfer process.

ZEW's project contribution is primarily based on the analysis of the transfer activities of firms in Saxony. For this purpose, a survey is carried out, which is set up as an additional survey as part of the Mannheim Innovation Panel.
