Labour Markets and Social Insurance
Chiara Malavasi joined ZEW’s Research Unit “Labour Markets and Social Insurance” in September 2021. Her research interests lie in the area of applied micro-econometrics, with particular focus on labour, education, and health economics. She received her bachelor’s degree in economics at the University of Rome Tor Vergata in Italy and her master’s degree in economics at the University of Pisa and Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Italy. During this time, she spent an exchange semester at the University of Hamburg. In her master’s thesis, she analysed the impact of socio-economic factors on life expectancy in Germany. Chiara is enrolled in the PhD programme of the Center for Doctoral Studies in Economics (CDSE) at the University of Mannheim. Before joining the PhD programme, she was a trainee in the Directorate General Statistics at the European Central Bank. She is a member of the Italian Economic History Association (Associazione per la Storia Economica, ASE) since 2016.
