Politicians often use the assumption of positive employment effects of low-carbon technologies to support them. However there is little scientific evidence for this. We aim at empirically characterizing the local economic impacts of wind power to shed light on the debate. Denmark is taken as a case study given its long experience in this energy type. Our econometric analysis employs panel data from the Danish statistical office combined with detailed information on wind turbines in operation.
