Corporate Taxation and Public Finance

Marcel Olbert is junior research associate at ZEW. He works in close cooperation with the research unit “Corporate Taxation and Public Finance”.
Marcel Olbert is an assistant professor of accounting at the London Business School, and a Junior Research Associate at ZEW. Previously, he was a research assistant at the University of Mannheim, where he received his PhD in 2020 under the supervision of Professor Christoph Spengel. He was a visiting PhD student at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
His research interests focus on the real effects of corporate taxation and disclosure regulation. He examines how multinational businesses respond to incentives that stem from their regulatory and macroeconomic environment. Topics of his current work include financial distress and loss-carryforward rules, private equity buyouts, and Country-by-Country Reporting.
