Invitation to the 2014 ZEW Economic Forum: China as a Technological Superpower – Dream or Reality?

Since the start of the new millennium, China has been one of the big players in globalisation. What challenges does the German economy face as a result of the increasing competitiveness of Chinese firms in the realm of technology? What are the opportunities and risks associated with collaborations between Chinese companies and research institutions?

These are some of the issues up for discussion at the 2014 ZEW Economic Forum taking place in Mannheim on 12 June 2014. The event will include lectures from guest speakers Professor Andrew Tylecote from the University of Sheffield, Dr. Georg Schütte, State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, and Dr. Ralf Krieger, member of the executive board at Freudenberg SE. A panel of high-ranking experts will also hold a debate on the challenges facing Germany in competing technologically with China.
