SEEK Kick-Off Conference: Going for Smart Growth with Knowledge and Innovations (4–5 March 2011, Mannheim, Germany)

The Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) is pleased to announce the kick-off conference of the research programme "Strengthening Efficiency and Competitiveness in the European Knowledge Economies" (SEEK), which is funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg. The conference will take place on 4–5 March 2011 in Mannheim, Germany.

This inaugural conference aims to bring together politicians, executives, and academics from across the world to discuss the challenges associated with knowledge- and innovation-based growth for Europe's economies.

We are proud to welcome a number of prominent speakers, including Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, EU-Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science; Stefan Mappus, Minister-President of Baden-Württemberg; David C. Mowery, UC Berkeley, Haas School of Business; Georg Schütte, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research; Andrew W. Wyckoff, Director of OECD Directorate for Science, Technology and Industry; Dietmar Harhoff, University of Munich, Director of INNO-tec; Philippe Aghion, Harvard University; and Bronwyn Hall, UC Berkeley and Maastricht University. Furthermore, scholars from various economic disciplines will present their research on the conference topic of "Going for Smart Growth with Knowledge and Innovations".
