ZEW Economic Forum and Ceremony to Mark the Change of ZEW Presidency
Public EventsThis year's ZEW Economic Forum will focus on the topic "New Rules for the Digital Economy?". The event brings together a number of high-profile experts to discuss the extent to which competition policy is an adequate instrument to address the growing market power of large corporations in the digital economy, on both a national and international level.
We are currently entering uncharted waters in terms of competition policy. How shall growing market power and its misuse in the digital economy be addressed? Are the concepts and regulatory instruments which we currently have at our disposal still suitable? The fact that the Federal Cartel Office and the EU Commission are investigating two of the giants of the digital economy, Facebook and Google, underlines the immediate relevance of this question.
Ceremony to mark the change of ZEW presidency
The ceremony to mark the change of ZEW presidency will coincide with the ZEW Economic Forum. In selecting Professor Achim Wambach as its new President, ZEW has appointed an outstanding personality and an excellent researcher to head the Centre for European Economic Research. This shall be celebrated in a fitting ceremony. Professor Wambach will be inaugurated as the new ZEW President in a ceremony beginning at 6 pm, whereby we will also bid farewell to former President Professor Clemens Fuest.
Attendance at the ceremony is possible by invitation only. For more information please contact the event organisers: events@zew.de.
