ZEW President Achim Wambach Comments on Air Berlin in Radio Interview

In an interview with the radio station Bayern 2 ZEW President Professor Achim Wambach commented on the upcoming decision surrounding the sale of the bankrupt airline Air Berlin, which is set to be made by the company’s supervisory board when they meet on 25 September 2017.

Achim Wambach answered questions on the German government’s involvement in the sale of the airline, the quality of potential buyers and the possibility of the company being broken up or remaining in tact. Also discussed were the €150 million loan the company received from the government, the likelihood that the sale will lead to an increase in ticket prices and the potential effects on competition in the aviation industry.
