The work area “Seminars and Internal Qualification” team supports ZEW staff in strengthening their soft skills. To this end, we offer the research and service units at ZEW a diverse range of German and English-language seminars and workshops on topics such as presentation techniques, moderation, communication psychology, (scientific) communication, conflict management and leadership in both face-to-face and online formats. The Resilience Course for PhD students deserves special mention. It supports the learning and development of so-called resilience, the ability to withstand challenging situations.
We also support ZEW’s employees with coaching offers. We address individual issues and provide assistance in dealing with difficult situations, e.g. in managing staff or in project work. The coachees also receive feedback on their own communication and presentation style.
Our colleagues benefit from our many years of experience working with national and international institutes and companies. In our seminars, which are continuously evaluated, adapted and enhanced, we take into account the special requirements and needs of researchers in everyday scientific life. Furthermore, we offer advice on preparing for different event formats such as conferences, round tables or panel discussions, recommend interactive methods for their design and give tips on moderation.
