German Chancellor Fellow Conducting Research on the Future of Mobility at ZEW
Guests at ZEWValentina Kolunova, a research fellow taking part in the German Chancellor Fellowship programme, has been working in the ZEW Research Department “Economics of Innovation and Industrial Dynamics” since 1 November 2017. This highly renowned programme sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation aims to promote the international leaders of tomorrow. As a host institute, the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW), Mannheim, will be supporting Valentina Kolunova in her research project on the development of the automotive industry in Russia.
Valentina Kolunova is one of approximately 50 talented young professionals from Brazil, China, India, Russia and the United States who have been awarded the German Chancellor Fellowship by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The annual programme falls under the patronage of the Federal Chancellor of Germany and provides young researchers with the opportunity to conduct a project of their choice in an intercultural environment.
Opportunity to conduct research and build networks in Germany
Over the course of her research stay, research fellow Valentina Kolunova will receive mentoring from Dr. Georg Licht, head of the ZEW Research Department “Economics of Innovation and Industrial Dynamics”. “I would like to thank my mentor for the opportunity to carry out a project at such a renowned research institute. Georg Licht is a great mentor and I’m delighted to be working with him on my project. At ZEW I have the opportunity to not only continue with my research project but also to establish new contacts with fellow researchers, making it a very valuable experience for me. I am very thankful for this opportunity,” says Valentina Kolunova.
About the German Chancellor Fellowship
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation provides prospective leaders from Brazil, China, India, Russia and the USA with the opportunity to pursue a research project at a host organisation, company or institute of their choice. A four-week introductory seminar in Bonn and Berlin allows them to network with other prospective leaders and attend various events together. These events include a reception held at the Federal Chancellery in Berlin, a study tour across Germany and visits to important public institutions and companies. Fellows are also offered an intensive language course in order to help them get acquainted with the German culture and language. The fellowship programme falls under the patronage of the Federal Chancellor of Germany.
