The European Commission has recently defined in different Communications its vision for climate and energy policies in the medium and long term, setting ambitious targets for 2030. In its Communication on a policy framework for climate and energy in the period from 2020 to 2030, it is proposed to reduce by 2030 EU greenhouse gas emissions by 40% compared to the 1990 level and raise the share of renewable energy in the EU energy mix to at least 27%. Moreover, it is proposed to achieve energy savings of 30% by 2030.This project aims to analyse the impacts of recent and possible future political developments, e.g. the negotiations in the forefront and the aftermath of the COP 2015 in Paris, the proposal for the 2030 Framework, the proposal for the carbon leakage list 2015-2019, to keep the policy analysis constantly up to date. To this end, a computable general equilibrium model will be applied. Thereby, the informational value of the analysis with respect to energy-intensive industries and the energy sector itself shall be improved.
