Economics of Public Procurement
WorkshopSecond ZEW Workshop
This event aims to provide a forum for recent high-quality research in the economic analysis of government procurement by bringing together empirical economists with different backgrounds working in the field. The workshop will be held on Zoom on Friday, 23 October 2020, from 12:50 PM to 5:00 PM. There will be four paper presentations (20 min.), each followed by a discussion and Q&A with the audience. Topics range from the bureaucratic incentives of allocation decisions in public procurement to the analysis of both the role of public procurement as a strategic policy instrument and the efficacy of various types of remedies to decrease inefficiencies in government purchases. The empirical research presented and discussed during this edition of the workshop is based on data from Brazil, Chile, Russia, and Sweden. The workshop will feature a keynote speech by Elena Krasnokutskaya, associate professor at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA.
