Financing the Energy Transition
Research Seminars: ZEW Research SeminarThe Role of Macro Dynamics, Policy, and Financing Types and Conditions – Joint Seminar ZEW and MISES
Avoiding dangerous levels of climate change, requires a fast and deep decarbonization of the energy sector by means of a socio-technical transition. While thousands of studies on the energy transition and specific aspects of it exist, the financing dimension remains surprisingly under-researched. In this talk, Tobias Schmidt will present a summary of recent and ongoing research on the financial dimension of the energy transition. Topics that will be covered, include the role of public policy and particularly "green" public banks, the potential effect of macro dynamics, and the importance of experience in renewable energy finance.
