Financing the Green Transition: The Role of Private Capital
ZEW Lunch DebatesThe EU has set itself the objective to become climate neutral by 2050. This requires massive investments. Over the next few years, huge sums will have to be channelled into financing the green transition. However, public money alone is not enough. Private capital is needed. Given the scale of investment required, both EU Member States and the Commission are seeking efficient strategies to draw private investment for green activities, production methods and and technology innovations.
Our Lunch Debate sheds light on the role that private and institutional investors play in the green transition. How can private capital be mobilized for the green transition? Which frameworks, policies and instruments are conducive to more green investments and more impact?
