ZEW Health Economist Simon Reif Appointed as Professor

Professor Simon Reif, head of ZEW Mannheim’s “Health Care Markets and Health Policy” Research Group, has accepted a joint position at Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) and ZEW. He has accepted a professorship in economics with a focus on health markets in the Department of Economics and Social Sciences at FAU, effective 1 October 2023.
“I am very happy to be appointed professor at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg. At FAU, I will have numerous points of contact for health economics research projects as well as promising opportunities for interdisciplinary cooperation. In particular, I am looking forward to increasingly integrating my research foci into teaching, namely the supply of health services and digitalisation in the health sector. I also look forward to providing insights here into the intersection between empirical research and policy advice.”

About Simon Reif
Simon Reif studied social economics and economics at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, the University of Hull in England and LMU Munich. After completing his doctorate in 2018 at FAU in the supply of medical services, he worked as a policy and start-up consultant. Since 2021, he has headed the ZEW’s newly-founded “Health Care Markets and Health Policy” research group. In 2023, he was appointed Professor of Economics with a focus on health markets at FAU.
