The ZEW homepage provides the general public with prompt access to information on the institute’s research findings, publications and events. A continuous maintenance of ZEW’s website and microsites for certain major projects, ScienceCampi or research collaborations is essential in order to ensure that these pages are constantly up to date. The corresponding content management including the creation and editing of web texts for multimedia use lies within the responsibility of ZEW's online communications. It is responsible for the digital strategy as well as the conceptual development and optimisation of the ZEW website.
ZEW actively uses social media platforms like Twitter, YouTube, Linkedin, and Flickr. The aim of using these social media channels is to spread the information offered on the ZEW website as widely as possible, thereby further promoting the dissemination of the institute’s findings resulting from research, survey and policy advice projects as well as strengthening the brand image of ZEW. With respect to ZEW’s social media activities the online team produces videos which attract great interest among internet users. For that reason ZEW produces videos on selected topics and events and makes them available on YouTube. The online communications team organises and coordinates the entire production of these videos for the research institute’s YouTube channel and supervises contact with camera teams and TV journalists. It advises the ZEW researchers on relations with TV and the media.
The team supports the research units in communicating research results to the public in the context of science facilities such as for example the MS Wissenschaft.
