The central purpose of the Priority Program was to advance top level research to develop a deeper understanding of the challenges facing labor markets in Germany in particular and throughout Europe in a global context. While being based in the field of labor economics, the priority program took an interdisciplinary approach linking economic research with research in sociology and in human resource management and organization in business administration. The program addressed pertinent research issues on the link between trade, technology, and demographic changes as they affect wages and employment. It thereby focused on labor market flows, on the role of institutions and policies, on the explanation for the increase in inequality, on demographic changes, and on the links to education and important non-economic motives and outcomes.The purpose of the coordination project was to provide a platform for scholarly exchange by organizing network workshops and international conferences.Further information: http://kooperationen.zew.de/dfg1764/startseite.html
