Klimapolitik während der Corona-Pandemie: Ergebnisse einer Haushaltserhebung
Refereed Journal // 2020This paper provides comprehensive empirical evidence on the influence of the pandemic on the perception of climate change and climate policy, the extent to which respondents are affected in terms of health and finances, and the assessment of climate policy aspects of economic policy measures taken to overcome the consequences of the corona crisis. The main findings are as follows: Although so far only a few of the respondents have been directly affected by the corona virus, a majority is concerned about the effects of the pandemic. Almost 77% of those surveyed are at least „moderately“ concerned about their own health and that of their families. A good 86% are at least „moderately concerned“ about the consequences for social cohesion. Nevertheless, climate change remains an important issue: only six percent of those surveyed think that climate change has lost importance since the beginning of the year. 70% see no change in the importance of the topic. 23% even believe that climate change has become more important in recent months. Nevertheless, initial correlation and regression analyses indicate that households with corona-related financial losses consider climate change to be less significant than households that were not affected.
