16th ZEW Summer Workshop for Young Economists: Advances in Microeconometrics and Programme Evaluation

The Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) is pleased to announce its 16th Summer Workshop for Young Economists. This year’s summer workshop targets advanced microeconometric and policy evaluation methods with a special focus on non-linear approaches, such as duration models and quantile regression, addressing endogenous and heterogeneous effects. The objective of the workshop is to bring together promising international doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows for a week of intense training by renowned international scholars. The five-day summer workshop includes lectures, paper presentations, and poster sessions. Young scholars who wish to attend the workshop are invited to submit a paper.

Papers should have a focus on applied microeconometrics and address one of the following (or related) economic topics:

• Labour, Education, and Health
• Information and Communication Technologies
• Econometric Policy Evaluation

Participants

Advanced doctoral students and postdocs within three years after completion of their thesis are invited to apply. The ZEW Summer Workshop is open to about 20 participants. Participants may apply for financial support from ZEW to cover travel and accommodation expenses. Please submit your complete paper to be presented (preliminary versions are welcome) and your CV to summerworkshop2014@zew.de no later than April 6, 2014.

Heinz König Young Scholar Award

During the summer workshop, the scholar younger than 35 years of age who presents the best paper will be honoured with the Heinz König Young Scholar Award. The award ceremony will conclude the workshop. The award is sponsored by Freudenberg SE. It includes an endowment of EUR 5,000 and a three-month research visit to ZEW. The prize is named after the late founding director of ZEW, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Heinz König.
