Die Struktur Kollektiver Lohnverhandlungen und Auslandsdirketinvestitionen in der OECD
ZEW Discussion Paper No. 99-50 // 1999This paper analyzes the influence of the structure of collective bargaining on foreign direct investment abroad, using a panel of 19 OECD countries in 1980, 1990, and 1994. The degree of centralization as well as the degree of coordination a,ect foreign direct investment. The less centralized or coordinated collective bargaining is, the higher is foreign direct investment. This rejects the hypothesis that bargaining on the ,rm level might reduce investment abroad. It also turns out that union density, bargaining coverage, or labor costs have no significant impact on foreign direct investment.
