The book gives a comprehensive survey of the financial sector developments in the most advanced Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries. This includes both the insitutional developments and the analysis of market efficiency and international integration of stock markets. The major part of the study deals with the changes of the financial sectors in CEE countries due to the future membership in the European Union. The study covers effects of future EU membership on currency policy and monetary policy, changes in capital market institutions, effects on corporate finance and the future development of stock exchanges.
