Bastian Thüne is a press officer at ZEW Mannheim, where he is responsible for the research units “Labour Markets and Social Insurance”, “Environmental and Climate Economics”, and “Market Design”. He ensures that complex scientific findings are translated for a wider audience and communicated through the media. Furthermore, he maintains close relationships with German and international media representatives and assists researchers in preparing their results for target audiences. He also offers in-house media training and contributes strategically to the further development of ZEW’s communication channels. Additionally, he is responsible for the conception and production of the ZEW podcast.
After completing his training as an automotive electrician at Adam Opel AG, Bastian Thüne studied sociology, cultural anthropology/European ethnology as well as economic and social psychology at the University in Göttingen. Besides that, he started blogging in 2005 and worked as a freelance editor at “De:Bug – Magazin für elektronische Lebensaspekte, Musik, Medien, Kultur & Selbstbeherrschung”.
He has experience in writing texts (daily newspaper, cultural magazines, corporate publishing, advertising, blogs), in designing campaigns as well as in account and project management. He has worked for the Rhein-Main-Presse, among others, and completed a trainee year in copywriting and conception at Fuenfwerken Design AG.
