The Leibniz Association is supporting the MannheimTaxation Science Campus, initiated by ZEW Mannheim and the University of Mannheim in 2013, for another four years. The research alliance regularly organises conferences and workshops, bringing together distinguished national and international researchers to exchange ideas in Mannheim.

During a ceremonial event at ZEW, Baden-Württemberg’s Finance Minister Dr. Danyal Bayaz remarked, “MannheimTaxation will play an even more crucial role in the future because we are currently witnessing a turning point in fiscal policy. In the past, problems could be papered over with money. That is no longer the case today.” According to Bayaz, it is therefore necessary to strengthen and increase the exchange between research and politics.

“MannheimTaxation is a flagship project that has strongly influenced tax research over the past ten years. Furthermore, the Leibniz ScienceCampus impressively demonstrates that such collaborations between non-university and university institutions can generate real added value in research and transfer. The Leibniz Association is pleased to support the Campus for the next four years,” explained Professor Sebastian Lentz, vice-president of the Leibniz Association.

Professor Thomas Puhl, president of the University of Mannheim, said: “With ZEW, our university has an outstanding partner by its side. I can only express gratitude for the fruitful partnership and for the great successes that have emerged under the umbrella of MannheimTaxation.”

Professor Achim Wambach, president of ZEW, stated, “MannheimTaxation is a stellar example of scientific collaboration between a university and a research institute. It’s a large international research network that provides excellent support for young researchers, produces exciting and well-published research projects and makes groundbreaking contributions to policy advice with a strong European focus. Congratulations on the 10-year anniversary.”

Thomas Kohl, managing director of ZEW, added: “The renewed funding extension underscores the top-notch research infrastructure and the continuous success of excellent collaborations initiated by ZEW.”
