Dates and NewsZEW President Achim Wambach Presents His Book in Online Discussion with Chinese Experts
During the coronavirus pandemic, German economic policymakers must not lose sight of two developments: On the one hand, the growth of powerful internet giants through digitalisation, and on the other hand the economic success of China, which rests on the influence of large state-owned corporations. Taking up these developments, Social Sciences Academic Press has now published the book “Digital Prosperity for All” by ZEW President Achim Wambach, PhD and Handelsblatt journalist Hans Christian Müller in Chinese.
On Wednesday, 9 December 2020, Achim Wambach presented the book’s key findings in an online discussion on competition policy in the age of the digital economy with leading Chinese experts from academia as well as government organisations and ministries. “Preventing the abuse of market power by internet giants is essential for the development of a competitive digital market economy,” Achim Wambach concluded. The event was initiated by Social Sciences Academic Press (China), the Beijing Research Institute of Cultural Trade, the China Institute for Service Trade of BISU, the Sino-German Center for Economy of Institute of International and Regional Studies of UIBE and the Research Academy Chengdu of UIBE.
