Chinese Consul General Huang Yiyang Visits ZEW Mannheim

Closer collaboration and an active exchange – those are the main goals that the newly appointed Chinese Consul General Huang Yiyang aims to achieve with ZEW Mannheim. For an initial meeting, he, along with a delegation from Frankfurt, visited ZEW on 13 October 2023. He was welcomed by Managing Director Thomas Kohl, Dr. Daniela Heimberger, head of International Cooperation and Public Relations, and Dr. Philipp Böing, senior researcher in the “Economics of Innovation and Industrial Dynamics” Unit.

During the visit, Daniela Heimberger gave an account of ZEW’s outstanding work as an economic research institute, elucidating its research focus areas and objectives. Following this, Philipp Böing provided a specific overview of current ZEW research on innovation in China.

In a subsequent discussion, Consul General Yiyang Huang reaffirmed his interest in innovation and the digital economy. He expressed a strong desire for future collaboration with ZEW, emphasising the importance of regular exchanges encompassing ideas, research findings, and perspectives.
