StBA x ZEW – Tax Research with German Administrative Data
Research Seminars: ZEW Research Seminar & MannheimTaxation WorkshopA Mutual Exchange
Administrative data is in high demand for conducting research in the area of taxation and public finance. Yet, setup costs to working with administrative data are large and access is complicated by organizational hurdles. Furthermore, the conditions under which datasets can be matched limit researchers’ flexibility. What is in (and what not) for researchers working with administrative tax data? What are lessons learned and best practices to be shared? Where do we rely on administrative data to advance research and what are good examples for ongoing projects in that realm? To address these questions in a mutual exchange we have invited Annette Kristiansen and Moritz Wittmaack from the Statistisches Bundesamt (Federal Statistical Office). Both are hands on responsible for the provision of administrative tax statistics (e.g. Umsatzsteuerstatistik, Lohn- und Einkommensteuerstatistik, Business Tax Panel).
